Amherst Youth Soccer Association (AYSA) is a volunteer-driven non-profit organization open to all children in the Amherst-Pelham Regional School District in Western Massachusetts. More than 800 players are involved in our programs. AYSA is receives no town funding and is run by a Board of Directors, comprised largely of parent-volunteers. AYSA is NOT an LSSE managed program, although $5 of each registration does go to the Town of Amherst for field use.
AYSA provides a range of programs for all skill levels with the general aim of developing soccer skills, knowledge and appreciation of the game, team play, and good sportsmanship. Our goal is to have players (and parents) learn the game and have fun. We also want players to be able to match their interest and abilities with the level of challenge and competition for their level of development.
AYSA provides the following programs:
- Pre-Kickers for pre-school aged children (age 3 and up)
- Recreational league soccer for children in Kindergarten through Grade 8
- Travel league soccer for children aged 7 and up.
At all levels, our programs are built around a core set of values including teamwork, challenging one’s abilities and knowledge, and the enjoyment of participating in an active and demanding sport. Good sportsmanship is not only desirable, it is essential. Our coaches will challenge our players to accept these values and play by them and we ask your support as parents in maintaining this focus. Please be sure to read the Codes of Conduct.
AYSA always strives to offer the highest quality programs possible. Our volunteer coaches and staff are highly committed and energetic. The AYSA community is very happy to see the expansion of interest in soccer in Amherst and the surrounding towns. In order to meet these growing needs and demands, your help is always needed and appreciated.
Please volunteer to coach, assist, help with fundraising, fields, publicity, equipment, or anything else you can contribute. AYSA Board meetings are held on the first Tuesday of every month from 6-8pm at the Howard Johnson Hotel on Rte 9 in Hadley, and anyone is welcome to attend and help out. Alternatively, feel free to contact anyone involved with AYSA, whether it is a board member, the director of coaching, the program manager or a volunteer coach, to offer help.
