Meeting Wednesday, Sep 11, to approve interim Director of Coaching position—all welcome

On behalf of the AYSA Board of Directors, I would like to welcome you all to the start of another soccer season and to update you on an important development in our organization. It is with great appreciation and admiration I announce the departure of our beloved Director of Coaches (DoC) Chris Monteiro. Coach Chris has made contributions to AYSA in ways both seen and unseen far more than I could ever enumerate. Our organization is better thanks to his work, and we wish him the very best as he moves on to future opportunities.

The AYSA board recognizes the fundamental importance of having a DoC as the person vested with the authority, experience and skills necessary to develop our coaches and players in ways that keep AYSA’s traditions in tact for generations to come.

The board is actively pursuing a candidate to be an interim DoC, and has begun a search for a person that can continue the legacy of Coach Chris. As such we will be vetting candidates in short order and have called a meeting on Wednesday Sept 11th to approve a contract for the interim position, based on the search committee and board’s recommendation. All registered families are encouraged to attend.

The meeting will be held from 6-8pm at Howard Johnson’s, 401 Russell St, Hadley, MA 01035. Please check back here on day of the meeting for location confirmation.

In service,

Trevor Baptiste

What people are saying:

“I liked how they paid so much attention and helped me get way better at my shots. And the African drumming and games were awesome.” –Levi, age 12

“KidsAfrik is the BEST SOCCER CAMP EVER! Plus, the food is really good!” –Justice, age 9

“I am happy for my children to be in a culturally enriching setting while getting some one-on-one skills training along with a whole lot of exercise and fun. The coaching team is top-rate–challenging and supportive. Thanks for a consistently great experience!”

“My son has been to several soccer and basketball camps and I was beginning to think that camps just weren’t his thing. They were never good experiences and it turned into weeklong frustration to get him to go. …This is by far the best camp he has ever been to! He has learned so much already and looks forward to each day. I think it’s a combination of the small group/individual attention, the types of skills he is learning, as well as the personalities and teaching styles of the coaches.”

“This program has been amazing in the progress my daughter is making each week. She absolutely loves it.”

“Alex really loved the camp. You know it’s going well when, after playing soccer all day, he comes home and begs me to play soccer with him in the yard. He counts the camp as the best camp experience he’s had of all the camps he’s gone to. It was also such a treat to have lunch provided.”
